My Experience with Affiliate Marketing - If it sounds too good to be true it probably is

If you start searching for a home-based business on the internet, be careful. Especially if you are green at internet marketing like I was. I have already invested over $10,000.00 with a company that explained a lot but didn't go into detail. If they tell you that you are going to make tons of money overnight, they are just trying to make a sale. Not only did it sound good, but that I didn't have anything to worry about anything, they would set up the e-commerce website and hosting fee free for life. I would be affiliated with top name companies that we have all heard of. It sounded great. That should have been a clue. Remember the old saying "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". But I bought into the Executive VIP Package which is why I paid so much. They were going to send 250,000 "visitors" to my website throughout the year. This is what they told me was considered "traffic". What that really meant was the visitors that see my website are people they send your homepage to in the form of a popup ad, because your home is sent to the" visitor" it does not register as a "hit". "Hit's" are when people actually type in your domain name to get to your site. Well the website did look nice, but the more I learned about the business the more I was disappointed. It was a static page. You cannot make changes to it unless you call them and request it. Which I did and they did give me a back page to put my own banners on to advertise for the companies I was affiliated with. But you are still very limited on space, as far as I could tell. My business started on Oct. 2, 2009 I was thinking, well I'm getting in at a good time because the holidays are coming up and I should make back some money. Well here it is Jan. 4, 2010 and I've made a little over $13.00 that is sending my homepage to 685 people per day. It's not as easy as you may think. All I can suggest is don't rush into that type of affiliate internet business. Don't get me wrong being an affiliate with top name companies is a great idea, but you don't have to go thru another company to do it. You certainly don't have to buy traffic! You can build your own website and associate yourself with these businesses. Work on your keywords to drive traffic yourself.

There are a lot and I mean a lot of Affiliate Marketing businesses out there that you can get affiliated with and not spend that kind of money. Since I'm out so much money right now, I have been checking into other forms of making money through Affiliate Marketing. The best system I have found is called CPA (Cost Per Action). This is something else you need to learn, all the lingo that comes with the business. There is a lot to learn, but I realized there are many companies and very successful companies that come highly recommended who are helping people learn the business before they invest a lot of money like I did. Unfortunately, I got the cart before the horse.

First of all they are going to teach you not only the basics of Affiliate Marketing but they are going to show you how to do it. If you find the right company, they can show you a step-by-step video on the various ways to make money and there are many, many different ways to make money on the internet. There is still an open market for Affiliate Marketing.
